"Bitter Start"
Written from the perspective of being the only sober person at a party, ‘Bitter Start’ is a visceral, reverb-drenched release that tackles peer pressure and setting boundaries through drones of shoegaze-inspired guitars and the dreamy vocals of singer, Sarah Grainger. At its core, it is a song about innocence and trying not to crumble under the weight of social expectations, with the band’s signature wall of sound engulfing all of that vulnerability.
“‘Bitter Start’ is about the premeditated social awkwardness one feels from a lack of self-belief,” explains co-writer and guitarist Kane Gabell. “It can leave you standing outside the circle of social interaction, knowing the secret is to step outside of yourself and trust the connection with others.”
